One click import button

i don’t like going back and forth trying to remember the extension of every asset i want to merge in my project and if i click on the wrong .ext i have to close it and click on the right one again.

Is there a way that I just click on IMPORT and blender shows me all the files

                                        OR

i just drag and drop an asset on outliner tab and blender just imports it itself

this is a huge step up in my import game

You mean importing non .blend files ?

What you describes looks like a job for the asset browser, but it supports only .blends …
Maybe start converting your assets and eventually everything will be fine ?

yeahh i mean every time i think ill import an obj file turns out it was fbx its like inserting the USB right side up …You are wrong 90% of the time. C4d just has a merge button and allows importing all files fbx obj dae abc without selecting it beforehand.

about converting my assets i dont think thats a great workflow

well maybe you can find an addon that deals with importers in a better way.

I don’t think what you’re asking for is possible by default.
What’s the problem with converting assets ?

if you have .blend you can drag and drop and append .

Or you build an asset library with categories and thumbnails accessible right inside blender, how comes that’s not the way to go ?

Sure the only problem remains the conversion , but maybe it’s possible to use a batch importer to speedup the process : https://github.com/p2or/blender-batch-import-wavefront-obj
