One more week...

Made in Blender 2.55, rendered by Internal renderer.

Comments are welcomed

Very nice scene!

One thing I donā€™t like is IOR on the jar. It looks like there is water inside but there is no water surface.

I dunno Iā€™m digging the IOR, it seems to suggest that the glass of the jar is not computer cut. Like it has a wavy uneven texture about it. Just my opinion, I canā€™t make renders this good. Yet, anyways

I like the ā€œold/whetheredā€ theme here. Those plant pieces and flakes make that plant feel dry and sell some overall realism to the setup.

Iā€™m digging it, and can sense the story of the person in which these belong to, brilliant.

Iā€™d like to see what it looks like with moodier lighting. Not that it would be better, but might be interesting with that wall and the theme.

Maybe if it was darker you could do something like light shining through a window frame onto the wall. That could add to your theme because thatā€™s like a sunset thing. So itā€™s like the suns goinā€™ down, know Iā€™m sayinā€™?

One more weekā€¦? Of what? life?

Your textures, lighting, theme, and composition are all of the things that my renders arenā€™t: excellent.

Beautiful

Iā€™d like to see a little more light and more zoomed out, also a wider renderā€¦ i find rectangular scenes more appealing. :eyebrowlift:
Other than that modeling, texturing and lighting is spot on.
How did you do that old worn out book?, it looks very nice.

Very nice work. The whole scene ties well together. The vase definitely looks like itā€™s old with the wavy refractions through it, reminds me of some early 20th century glass Iā€™ve seen in antique stores, not sure if this was an intended effect, but it goes well with the theme you chose.

I would also like to know how you did the book, it definitely has a very convincing appearance.

Later,
Joe

stfd, jarā€™s IOR is 1.57 and itā€™s absolutely epmty. Itā€™s just an old one with a little greenish color)
shibazz, thank you for your post! Jar is made absolutely in blender. And maybe iā€™ll play a little with lighting sometime)
callmeishmael, thank you!
Jakerlund, Crash_AF, the book is made of subdivided cube, a little deformed one. And a lot of pages, placed in it) Textures are drawn or pictured by me) I can tell some details if you want.

I second Crash_AFā€™s request for some more detail on how you created the book. I have some very old (70 to more than 100 years old) books that are a family legacy and you have captured the look of some of them perfectly.

Good models and textures and great, really great lighting!
I donā€™t like too much the point of view and the overall composition of the imageā€¦ You can certainly improve the render by grabbing and rotating a little the camera.
However that is a fantastic job

Okay, here is some editor screenshots:

Does rendering the textures to get it to look this good always involve unwrapping the mesh or is there a good 'ol shortcut? I have watched a dozen tutorials ranging all the way to examples for the learning disabled and am still not getting this.

You canā€™t do a complex scene without unwrapping some objects, i think. But rendering and unwrapping is a different things and unwrapping makes only texture to cover the mesh correctly.

Excellent work.
IOR is fine, just looking at something similar on my desk now.
Some more PP could help, DOF mostly, just a little. But you probably donā€™t want to spoil it with dirty tricks. lol
*5

looking good.

nice compositing you have

BTW @IkLsR your head seems to be stolen by michalis

lol

beautiful work.this theme is like a still life painting -emotional,evocative.i feel the glass doesnt show thickness, maybe material problem, needs little more reflections also.

nice workā€¦
loved the old book ā€¦

Every aspect of the image is admirable.

Thank you, dinesharun :-[

The spectacles and book materials are spot on! Lovely render. The jar looks weird though.
