Only effect one object with the compositor

Hi Guys,

I have a little problem. I have a scene with one object and an 360 environment hdri background.
I want to apply mist only at the object but not at the background.
I tried to apply it to the whole scene, the object looks ok, but the background is to misty.
I tried to solve this with ID Mask in the compositor, but I can’t get it to work.

Somebody any ideas?

Object ID or material ID can be used to create a mask in the compositor to isolate your object and apply any changes just to that isolated area. If you can’t get it to work sghow us what you have.

You could also just use the environment pass and transparent background to split the object from any environment then combine them afterwards

I think I was a bit too fast with the post. I found the problem in my node setup.
