Opacity mapping

I have created an opacity map that would work in a program like 3ds Max or Maya, to go over a texture to cut out the unwanted part of a shader but I am having an awful lot of trouble getting it to work in Blender, I haven’t been able to find any tutorials on the subject within blender either.
Help would be much appreciated :smiley:
