PS:I want to reload this game with the new bullet GE. I hope this can fix the current problem in collision detection, and release a “open the Door” demo that meets the requirement of erwin. I hope you like it and can make your owen brilliant games.

Please tell me whether you opened the door or not.

Woah, there’s a chinese blender community, cool. Sigh… I can’t read or write, but I can speak it. Lol, doesn’t do too much for me online.

What version of blender did you use? I’m guessing 2.25, but I no longer have that version installed on my laptop. Tutorial looks pretty good with logic bricks. Can’t go wrong with them :D. Environment looks great too. Heh, but the statues are fairly high poly (3000 tris each). My out of date laptop crawls at about 9 fps while running the tutorial blend.

I used the Blender 2.41(official released).you can optimize the scene by yourself.

0. open the scene file-gt 2 B , delete the Ground ( needn’t modeling the entitative to implement knob and basin topography , this can be replaced by mapping/bump mapping to represent) , simplify the statue ( the simple way is to delete them,or use the decimate tool optimize them, but this may reassign UV and Vertex color ) ― of course ,you can do nothing with them–like me.

did you open the door?

Put up the file on a host that we can quickly download from (you can use savefile). Downloading from the link in your initial post is way too slow.

It’s nice, but not even close to “proffesional”. The term professional applys to games with no collision problems, and more than just one level.

Although it is better than the average stuff that comes from the community.

Nice work overall, and as taiji already mentioned, Im surprised that there is a chinese community. Keep up the good work.

did you open the door?

How do you open the damn door?

Its not professional as the model shouldnt be constantly running, even standing still.

However collosion detection is not a sign of profesionalism. Look at Halo2 your not suppose to be able to jump into a gap and fly into the air, and its a professional game with some seriouse bugs.

In my mind professional is when you create a game that the player feels he is truly in.

Nope, I wasn’t able to open the door. From what I gather you have to bump into a statue to open the door. Maybe more than 1 statue is my guess since just bumping into the last one on the right doesn’t open it.

There’s actually more logic there than is necessary. The invisible actuators used for the cubes, you can actually just make the cubes itself invisible by default (F9, Texture Face and click invisible). I gather the tutorial is pretty good. Would love to have had it when I first started out.

:DHeh, sorry can’t say what more else is wrong. It’s been a really long time since I opened up a .blend file to figure out how someone wired things up. Lol, usually just rig everything up myself from scratch.

The look and feel of the game is good. The collision problems is just a result of the physics engine sumo. It’s always been like that after 2.25. Although they’re workarounds, it’s still not nearly perfect. It seems to be remedied with bullet though.

looks good i havnt tested it though

is there any way to make www.blendercn.org in english?

–Maybe someone can do it for me.

It’s nice, but not even close to “proffesional”. The term professional applys to games with no collision problems, and more than just one level

–This is only a very fundamental tutorial ,needn’t the Python script and do it in 10 munites.

Although it is better than the average stuff that comes from the community.

–My friend, oyster, always tell me that the member of this forum is very earnest,he is right.

–You will see the news about BlenderCN today or tomorrow on the Blendernation.

It is hosted here on my site:

http://www.continuousphysics.com/ftp/pub/test/index.php?dir=blender/&file=Open%20the%20Door.zip

You can use latest preview27 to run it:
http://www.continuousphysics.com/ftp/pub/test/index.php?dir=blender/&file=blender-2.42-win32-preview27.zip , But requires ‘obsolete sumo’, would be nice if it can be converted to Bullet!

If you have certain Bullet collision problems, please let me know what exactly.

Thanks!
Erwin

Thank you . I will try it.I hope you like it .

Thank you ,erwin.

I used the latest preview27 to run it ,using the sumo ,it’s faster than 2.41(30fps to 60 fps).I will covert the game to bullet with more bullet GE’s features and new level ,even the new character. I want it will be close to “professional”.but it will take a little long time (two weeks or more).

Go here and type in the URL in the box where it asks for it and select Translate from Simp. Chinese to English.
