Openwars.org announce 'kits' for Blender and proably other..

The basic idea comes out of the Lightwave community of releasing a series of files that includes everything a newbie needs to start animating scenes. Their first pack is just the solar system and a couple of other famous sci-fi planets.

You can check it out at http://www.openwars.org

I don’t see the need for it.

I DO! To me, it’s a great idea to provide some ready to use models for newbies to get their feet wet. Then once they understand how the mechanics work, they can go about creating their own models.

It’s a fantastic idea, roll with it!

I think it’s neat idea for newbies or if you want a ready made project to try things with

how about a pack with complimentary programs and plugins for use with blender for intermediate to advanced users such as terragen, gimp video-mach (for movie editing) and other software.

also a texture pack with heaps and i mean about 1Gb or more of repeating 1024x1024 textures in TGA foramt.
perhaps in multiple zip files for easy downloading.
as well as a 256x256 Jpg format for 56K users (like me)

wicked ideas i think!!!
