Opeth - statue

Hello. This is my first work what I didn´t do with tutorial help or something like that.
And I´m happy with it , mostly becauce I started that O-letter from one vertice and I extruded it and in the end I filled faces with F-key. I know, I´m stupid because I didn´t use curves.
Tell me what you think of it?
newest and last pic:

old version:

yay Opeth! The texturing looks a little rough but other than that good job.

Wow, looks really nice! Has a great flowing feel to it. The texture on the front of the statue look great, but you need to get that same look on the sides of the model.

Also, something about the rock and it’s texture seem out of place with the statue, but I can’t quite place it.

Anyway, really good work. Great design!

Cuby

Thanks! Cuby, I tried to have the same look to those sides but I cant figure how! Will this help?: I seperate each sides and give that text to all of them?

i think you need to set material to ‘map input’ =cube. should make quite a difference.

The metal part looks terrific, but the rock texture isn’t that good. It looks alright on the front, but it seems stretched a lot on the sides

Poly-to-poly is just a little insane for something curvy like this, and there’s some texture stretching, but other than that everything looks fairly good.

For your first work, it’s really good. I also think the design is pretty sweet.

Gee, I didn’t even realize it was your first. Its way better than my first model (a reflective pyramid).

Thanks everybody for the comments! Yeah, Its my first REAL work.

That rock-texture is from photo I took almost in midnight one day in our yard. I like front side of it but it is streched, I noticed it too. But I don´t know how to fix that problem. Any ideas? And thanks again for the comments, it warms my heart

And In my opinion, this work looks too simple. Any ideas how to make it more interesting? I will then post a new version

^ Come on, any ideas how to make that texture better?

Hello again. I managed new texture to the rock. It’s sticky now and I like it. But that statue gives me head ache. Any ideas how to make it srticky same way?

Please give comments and crits!

Hmm, it looks much improved to me. I’m not quite sure what you mean by “sticky” though.

Good logo. Opeth makes great music!

But use the subsurf modifier and make the crease on sharp edges (shift+E).
And use procedural textures if you can`t make UV.

Thanks for feedback! With sticky I mean one button on Mesh-buttons. endi, I’ll try that one right now! Though there is simple subdivide allready… And What means procedural texture? This one is just jpg…

delete this post…

I think this is pretty final version… Please tell what you think of it?

I know this kinda posts sucks. But I rewally need your opinions of my work: How to make it better and so on… And now The pic is on post

I didn’t even know you had a post here. :stuck_out_tongue: I like it, myself. Though it sucks that as an end you just took the texture off the sides of the statue. You could’ve used cubic mapping to fake it. Anyway though, as your first final it’s very nice. The back-ground is a little bland, but it’s made up for by the detail in the foreground. All-in-all, good.

Well, It was in fourth page… I tried cube-mapping on statue with new blender beta and it gave better results. And without subsurf. I’ll post it here
