Hey all, I recently switched to Blender and I’m breaking it in with this Optimus Prime model from the new animated tv show Transformers: Prime. The going is slow because I’m still learning Blender and I’ve only got about 2 free hours a day to spend on it, but I’m really enjoying Blender and I’m excited to keep working on this model.

I need perform simulations with large particles and fluid, I’m search perfection in these simulations.
I wonder what the ideal configuration for my computer.
Currently working with:
Core 2 Duo E8400
4GB Ram
Nvidia Quadro FX 1800

Hi, model looks very good, from wich software you switched?
Nvidia Quadro FX 1800 seams ok for blender but for simulation you need pur CPU power:
Intel I7 2600 or for lower budget AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
8 GB ram seams ok for most cases.
And you need a 64 bit OS to manage the 8GB ram.

Thanks! I switched from Maya, and Blender is such a breath of fresh air compared to all the headaches I’ve had with Maya.
And I’m not much help to anyone when it comes to simulation, whether it’s Blender or any other package. Can’t offer any advice there :no:
If you need help, start your own thread in one of the help forums. That’s what they’re there for. That way you’ll have a better chance of getting a reply (more people will see it), and are less likely to irritate people with thread hijacking.
Back on topic, that’s nice work. Even looks more interesting than the reference at this stage…

RilianCG, you made me optimistic as I’m switching now from Maya to blender to my new job requirements and I feel now that I can do what I used to do in Maya but, what about the rendering package of blender is it powerful as mental ray or it’s still to far from it.
