I’m new to blender so I’m following the donut tutorial but now all of a sudden when I’m zoomed in on it and hold the middle mouse to orbit around it zooms me out then I can orbit
You mean zoomed in on the camera view, right? This drives me crazy on a daily basis, but I understand why it happens. Assuming you don’t have Lock Camera to View enabled, when you zoom in from the camera view, you are physically enlarging the frame in the UI. If you then orbit, Blender snaps the frame back to size so that your rotation is from the original camera view, not the zoomed-in one.
So just select what you want to work on and press the period key on the num pad to frame it. You can freely orbit around it from there.
