hi! I’m practicing animation! I posted a thread on finished projects but wen i come to think of it that was a bad idea! this is a betther place to post it because they really have no meaning. My goal was to make a realistic walkcycle and don’t make the mistake i so often do and that is making my characters go through the ground and that looks really bad.
I would challenge you to get up from your computer and walk around the room. Notice first that your hips and shoulders rotate in counter motion. Then notice that your feet do not slide and that when you step you bounce slightly, your back and head go up and then down.
Perfect your walk cycle and then work on camera angles.
For now… Walk cycle, bounce and no slide… Sounds like a fun song.
I think the feet are too far apart. Also maybe add a little depth to the model, it kind of looks like an ogre ginger bread man. Nice environment and texturing.
Is this for the game engine or for a stand alone animation?
The reason I ask, is that if it’s for the game engine, it’s going to be difficult (but not impossible) to make a good walk motion, as the GE does not support armature constraints, and IK constrained feet/legs are almost a necessity for making a character walk.
If it’s for a stand alone animation, take a look at the example walks done in the example files on this page :
Everything i have animated is with a simple plain rig. Tnx mike! Heres my second try on a walkcycle for the orc. (no tutorials used though i did look a bit into the one Corey sent me and i learned a thing or two about torso movements) tnx all!
