Ordnance QF 25 pounder Howitzer field gun

Hi everyone

So about a week ago I found this photo of a 25 pounder gun while celebrating christmas at my grandmother’s house. I literally fell in love with it. when I got to my computer at home, I decided to start up Blender and heck, why not recreate this thing? And so here I am with my progress after five days of work. Please criticize the heck out of it because when I am finished with this I want to have something really good :stuck_out_tongue:

(P.S. any idea of what this badass could fire? As I don’t want a normal bullet shell because it would look boring I was thinking a pokemon or a sheep but then it would look like the pokemon or sheep was being abused :D. No, but seriously bring it on!)

Here is every piece of it I have created separated. These will soon be put together to make the actual gun. Haven’t really gotten much time to spend on this project, so I will try to work more and not sit at this website all day long

Sorry if these images look dark to you, I have a very bright monitor. (If you can, turn up the lightness of your screen.)

I would also like some feedback on how the materials look, especially on the wheels. I know I need to work on the shield a lot but that’s just some basic blocking and it will soon look okay. Hopefully I will continue to try to stay as active as possible in this thread, and sorry if I don’t. (my first work in progress thread :3)

not much in the way of technical advice…but i like the looks of it…and you have presented it nicely…whats not to like

nice start look forward to seeing it finished (did my basic on them many many years ago lol )

Textures look really promising

UPDATE: I have been very busy lately, so that means I haven´t had a lot of time with Blender. Been a long time now, but I finally got the shield to a level of completion. Half way in I realized the scale of everything was wrong, because I have no blueprint of any sort to follow (I usually work with blueprints). This lead to that the topology is quite a mess at the top, but at least it works.

I am close to where I can begin to assemble the gun.

(EDIT) I added some tiny details, not really big so I won´t post any pictures of it.
