Which OS does everyone use? (just curious)
Ubuntu, XP in a dual boot
ubuntu and debian based linux mint
my main os is windows 7 on my primary computer. i have a mac book that triple boots windows 7 ubuntu and mac osx, i also have 6 old dells running in a cluster running ubuntu. so i would have to go with windows. but having the others there is helpful.
I am using Windows and I don’t see myself moving any time soon.
I have absolutely no problems in using windows. Everything works flawlessly for me. Maybe a lack of freedom in customizing, but meh…
However, If all great modern computer games were started to be made for Mac or Linux, I’d probably move to ubuntu…
but I still like the blurry glass

I do not see a choice for, “All of the above.”
An operating system is just “a means to an end.” We have three clear choices now: Windows, Linux, and OS/X, two of the three of which are (simplifying things greatly!) “basically, Unix.” And we have software which, for various historical reasons, usually runs best on (just…) one of the three; Blender being a notable but not entirely unique exception.
For that reason, I am right now looking at “one of each,” all of them within easy reach. None of them are “dual boot…” they are separate machines. (In fact, in the OS/X department I have both an x86 machine and a PowerPC… “on sale today.” :p)
Crazy thing is, these days, it really doesn’t cost a lot of money to do it this way.

I’m on Windows Vista. I tried to have Linux Mint 10 as a dual boot a couple of weeks ago when I reformatted, but I couldn’t get my hard disk split up the way I wanted because of partition number limits (my limit is 5 for some unknown reason). I got my partitions working ok the next day with only Windows…
I have to try again sometime though, I’ve tried Mint on a Live DVD and it looks totally awesome :yes: Ideally I’d eventually like to use all three systems - Windows, Linux and Mac.
Personally, I dual boot Windows Vista and Ubuntu on my main machine. However, I use a variety of operating systems. Here is the list from most used to least used:
- Windows Vista (I should upgrade to Win7, but I’m too lazy)
- Ubuntu 10.04
- Mac OSX 10.5.8
- Windows XP
