Hello all!
Some of you may know about this project. I started it about one year ago planning the story, organizing objectives, character, vehicles and stuff… So now i want you to take a look at it. :eyebrowlift2:
This is a space adventure game that features space simulation all in the first person perspective.
It features:
Pilot different vehicles (space, ground and air)
Engage the aliens in melee combat and with a machine gun\bazooka
Enter the planetary surface
You can enter buildings
Complete freeform play - you just have one mission, get out alive of that hell.
In opposite of the space game simulations where the aim is all big universe… where you simply warp around
and get tired… Here you get only a little sector of an alien civilization. Only a main planet and its moon…
Where you accidentally explore the asteroid field for precious minerals, not knowing that you are
followed and will soon be a target.
So starts the game and in these two Worlds…YOU will be the hunted alien!
As you can see the game is very complex itself, and because of that it still has many bugs. Most of them i will remove\correct but others are just off my scope… I think the game will be complete for final release somewhere in august. But anyway it is playable and here are some eyecandy.
What you can do and dont in this demo!
You cant exit the surface area, if you try to leave the moon the game will exit.
You cant enter the buildings.
You can try some vehicles, but they probably have some kind of bugs…
You can go around and shoot the incoming alien aircrafts.
And thats it i guess.
The game will be saved automaticaly when you quit the game.

gg7: I’ve been watching your progress and I have to admit you’ve done a fantastic job with your project. This has to be one of the best FPS games i’ve seen made with Blender. Keep up the top notch work!
You may want to mention that your demo is not exactly cross-platform. Linux users like me will find themselves faced with a bit of run around in order to play your game. Linux users who do not know how to make it work like I do will be upset that they cannot play it and that they wasted the time downloading a 16MB file only to be disappointed.
I’ve got a Linux version that I built for myself, and I’m willing to upload it if you want me to. It follows the same file structure that your Windows release does, so nothing to worry about there.
Sim88: it makes now one year of development…
blendenzo: it is ok… no problem with the linux version.
By the way, if you havent noticed it yet… the .out files can be loaded in blender just like a .blend file. So other users can play it and tweak around the file to see how it was done.
Ragchan and Yes: What is your system specifications?
The fog/smoke/clouds. Impressive. Some of the best I’ve seen in the Blender GE.
One suggestion. The character’s head can turn independently. Sometimes it’s hard to tell which direction the body will move when you press one of the movement keys. Maybe a little arrow that shows which way the body is facing?
cthames: Yes thats true about the head. I made it that way cause its more innovative… in real life it is also like that isn’t it?
When you dont know what direction you are facing, look down to your feet.
This build works fine on my Linux box (Ubuntu 7.04), but I imagine it’ll work on any machine that meets the requirements for Blender 2.43. (BTW, You must launch the game from the link in the top directory. It won’t work if you try to launch it from the binary in the Satelite directory.)
For those interested in the details of publishing on Linux, all references made to files in your .blends need to be made from the directory the game was launched from. I had to change a few things in gg7’s blends to make the game launch from a link, because Blender thinks it’s launching from the directory where the link resides, not where the program resides. Basically, I had to change all file references from filename.out to Satelite/filename.out.
gg7: I updated the save and load scripts, too, so they are also looking in the Satelite directory.
edit: Oh, BTW, my graphics driver is horrible, and there’s not a better one available, so I can’t play the game very well. The movies and screens look excellent, and I’m really looking forward to giving it a try once I’m able to upgrade my gfx card.
