output doesn't match nodes

Not only does my output not match my nodes, but when it finishes rendering the rendering window goes black.

I have a simple node set up combining two layers and adding a little RGB tweaking to each layer before combining them with an AlphaOver node. Looks awesome in the node window, it just doesn’t render correctly. I’ve tried engaging and disengaging “Do Composite”. With “Do Composite” turned off everything renders (no black screen) but my RGB node adjustments have been ignored.

I’m stuck.

btw - I do have a File Output node, too.

Is your node system feeding into a composite node? Because what renders is what is fed into the Composite node and if you don’t have one then the render will be black.
