overlapping objects

hey guys and girls,

take the default blender scene, a cube with a point lamp (ray shadow)
duplicate the cube and move it a little to any side.

render.

big fat ugly lines where the objects overlap.

yuck

turn shadows off and it dissapears.

basically any overlapping faces (in different objects) producing terrible artifacts when sharing the exact same space.

is this a bug? i remember this being around years ago but didn’t really know anything about 3d then. i just tested it in build 26510 windows 7 x64

Hi,

It makes no sense to have faces sharing the same space - avoid it. This problem is called z-fighting and it’s not a bug, just a consequence of using a z-buffer.
