Overlay scene over a video file?

I’m trying to make a smooth transition from my animations into my outro sequence, and I am pretty sure there is a way to do this through the compositor, but I’m not completely sure on how to go about doing this.

I tried chroma keying it through Sony Vegas, but it didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to.

Is there a way to do this?

You’ve really given no info to help anyone give you a solution because you’ve given no info on the problem.

Please show annotated screenshots and example blends etc etc

You may know what you want but you need to learn how to put that across clearly to other people who don’t have the advantage of continually looking over your shoulder

So, like I said I want to overlay my scene over a video file preferably through the compositor.

You can render the outro with an alpha channel which has a built in transparent value. No chroma key required. Then use alpha over in VSE or an alpha over node in the compositor to mix them.
