Overlighting

Hello,
I have a rookie question considering outdoor lighting.

I’ve so far constructed a very simple object, set outside e.g. on the street, near a park, etc.
Moving on to the point, I’ve encountered a problem with overlighting. I made sure all lamps were disabled, ambient occlusion disactivated, the world settings don’t seem to be a problem either.

Basically, all the objects look as if they’re covered in some grey fog, or seen through very heavy pollution. The colours are bleak and lifeless, and look completely different from the textures and colours I set beforehand.

Now I’m pretty sure there’s some small but vital setting I’m forgetting about here.
I’d be gratefull for any clues as to how to solve this problem, and make the plan more live-like.

Thanks in advance,
baagh
