Packing images

Should it be possible to pack images into .blend files?

cos I’m having troubles…

It is possible. Need more help? Describe your troubles.

Yes. You should be able to pack images.

What kind of troubles?

When you go File > External Data > “Pack into .blend file” and then save, does it work?

Or is it that you’re losing images even though you packed it and saved?

Thanks guys it does now seem to be working, but before a little message in the top right hand corner was saying that the images had not been saved, even though I had gone File > External Data > “Pack into .blend file” and resaved…

Thanks anyway…

I just had it happen again. It’s when I save with CTRL S. A message saying “No files have been packed” comes up top middle of screen.

Could you attach/upload your .blend file and the images you want to pack?

I’m taking a wild stab in the dark and saying it might have to do with either:

  1. the .blend file is either not properly loading the images
  2. that the images are of a filetype that can’t be packed (I’m not really sure what image types are supported for packing, I always tend to use .jpg, the blender wiki only mentions .jpg)

Hmm, I get the same “no files have been packed” for a .png image. I guess only .jpg is supported at the moment.

I worked it out. After File> External data> Pack into.blend file you must go SAVE AS not just SAVE. Then of course you are making a new document.

Thanks All

No you are ok! What blender means by this is no files have been PACKED. That’s because the files have already BEEN packed. It’s ok. If you try it out on another computer you will see.
