What happens when I set NUMLOCK on, is that
the mouse pointer moves north by northwest
when I hit pad7. If I set NUMLOCK off,
then nothing happens at all when I hit pad7.
What I do is this. I saved the first scene
called for in the gamdkit. THen I just
start blender and load that scene - then
I select that object (right click over it),
and then use the ALT key and LMB
to rotate the scene in 3d - then if
I select view/top, it returns back
to the original view (from the top).
But, if I hit pad7 instead of selecting
view/top with the mouse, NOTHING
happens. I think this must be some
kind of error - rigth? Has anyone else
had difficulty getting the version of
blender that comes with the gamekit
(2.2.2) to respect numpad key 7?
Do I need a different version?
I can’t figure out what is wrong -
the computer is deteing the key
(since it moves the mouse with
numlock on) - what could be
wrong here?
My version of blender publisher is 2.24 (it came on
a cd with the gamekit).
My system is windows 98 se, and my computer is a
pentium III with an epox 440bx motherboard,.
My keyboard is logitech wireless, and my mouse
is a 2-button optical. Everything is pretty much
standard - I don’t know why blender is not recognizeing
the pad keys ??? Does anyone else have this
problem? Is there something else I need to do
to make my pad keys “visible” to blender?
My padkeys are working because there are other
programs that I can run which detect when I hit them.
Finding a gltich right at the beginning of my tutorials
is really worrisome.
BINGO!
I just found out what my problem is!!!
MOUSEKEYS.
What you have here is that Windows 98se gives
you an “accessibility” feature called mousekeys -
it lets you use the pad keys as a mouse substitute
and I did install that some time back. Well, it seems
that windows mousekeys OVERRIDES and intercepts
the pad keys clicks so that blender never even gets
the callback. All I did here now was to disable
mousekeys and bingo blender recognizes pad7.
GOOD. Problem solved - if anyone ever has
problems with the pad keys then make sure
you are not using windows mousekeys - over and out.
The question was asked if you are using a notebook. I work on a notebook and I find it annoying that when starting a new Blender session-even the same file- I have to set the “no numpad” button everytime. Anyone know how to make a new session default to “nonumpad?”
