Paint weights on backfaces.

Hi all.
Is there a way to paint weights on the backfacers of an object at the same time sa the front faces? If I build a cylinder and add an armature and paint weights on for a bone, i have to rotate the cylinder to paint the faces on the other side too. What i would want is to paint on both sides at once.

Also, is there a way to blur the vertex painting to feather the weight painting?

Not with the Paint tool (and thank goodness not!), maybe by setting the numerical values manually though? Or, let’s say you’re in Front view and done painting the ‘front’ of the object, you can hit Ctr-Numpad-1 to paint the ‘back’ view.
