Painting on wrong textures

I have a make human mesh, I added a new material, I added a new texture to that material.
In the texture paint window I have the new material selected and the texture selected in that, when I paint on it, it paints on a completely different texture in a completely different material.
How do paint on the selected text

ure in the selected material?

Here’s another screenshot.
In this one I’ve deleted all the other materials and drew on the diffuse map.

What the heck is going on?

Open up a sidebar (‘n’ key probably) in your texture paint 3D viewport. Switch to the tool tab of the sidebar and look at “texture slots”. Where it says “mode”, change it to “single image.” Then specify the UV map that you want to be using for the painting, the image you want to paint onto, and the intended color transform for the image.

Take a look at the right of the screen there, that’s the EXACT same thing as what you’re tellimg me to do.

You didn’t select “single image”.

I have the exact same problem as the OP now in 5.2, but there’s no “Texture slots” option in my UI.

Edit: figured it out. They moved the texture slots thing up top.
