probably painting directly in blender, if thats what you mean.
Painting will run much faster, but you can’t be too detailed as the precision is only vor each vertex. To do really good painting, you need more polygons, which will be slower than less polygons with textures.

I assume by painting you mean vertex painting the meshes of the game? An answer to this would go a long way toward answering a question that I have, which was, does EVERYTHING in a game HAVE to be uv textured
No, everything doesn’t have to be UV textured, why would it?
