hi i have a rig made up for my model however when i try and parent them with auto weight the model gets very deformed, i have tried painting my own weights but it still deforms the model also i cleared the rotational data altR and altG before parenting them what have i done wrong
Can you post/upload an image or .blend file? Hard to help without some reference.
Could happen, if the rig is not in rest pose or the origin of the mesh and the origin of the armature are not at the same location.
- Select the armature -> Properties Editor -> Data -> Skeleton -> Rest Pose
- Select both the mesh and the armature -> Alt + A -> Apply Location, Rotation, Scale
