Pale Man (Pan's Labyrinth)

So I was planning on modeling this in Maya and taking it to Zbrush but I’ve been looking for a reason to start working in Blender. So I figured that this would be a good project to get modeling under my belt. This is just the base mesh with subsurf mod applied to it. No digital sculpting. I’m wrapping up my capstone animation and that should be done within the next 1-2 months but when I get bored with character animation I go play in Blender. So this thread should get periodic updates for this model. C&C wanted and welcomed.

Might want to work on giving him muscle. Right now there’s only room in his arms and legs for the bones.

I was planning on sculpting that in, habit I’ve grown in using zbrush.

Well then, if you’re planning on sculpting all this in, there’s no real point in anyone offering any ‘criticisms and comments’ right now. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wouldn’t say that, the project is a w.i.p… There is always room for crit. As far as the msucles go, when you look at the character in the movie all he is really, is skin and bones. They had portions of the actor which they painted out in post to achieve the visual affect. Should check out the site for the movie, some really cool things on it. MY main concren at this point is proportion, in the front ortho shot he seems a bit compressed on the vertical. So C & C is welcomed and just because I haven’t done my sculpting yet don’t feel that your opinion is wanted . . .

Well, anything from a front or side ortho shot is going to look a little smushed because our eyes (and movie cameras) see everything perspectively.

Well, the front shot is from the orthographic view so the distortion from a perspective shot isn’t there but thats the shot where I feel the “squash” the most, I suppose I’ll lengthen him a bit and have a looksie.
