Out of curiosity, has anyone given this cam a test run or does anyone own it? If yes, your opinions would be great as another factor in making this decision.
I went through the review, and considering the whole feature set, its pros and cons, as well as its price (I got my low-end point-and-shoot camera for a similar price last year, so…), it does seem like a good purchase.
I had Panasonic DMC-FZ7 (older generation) It was great!
It has lots of zoom, it’s light and the picture quality is great, as well as movie quality to.
I sold it to my brother, when I got an SLR. then he gave it to my sister for Christmas!
Overall it’s a good transition between a point and shoot and an SLR.
That was the FZ7 so the FZ8 is probably better.
Also I wouldn’t pay any $300, I think you can do better on the price.
I have and use a DMC TZ1 (which is their compact super-zoom) and its excellent. They’ve got newer models out now that incorporate nice improvements over this one. The best is the 30fps video at 800+ X 480 resolution (better than the usual VGA) and the 10X opt. zoom. Good camera - not exactly like the one you’re considering, but thot it might help.
Thanks for the replies. You confirmed my thoughts that there is no reason to not buy this camera… I just tried one out today, and I like it. So I’ve made my decision! The order is placed.
