Not at all, Pane has been out for a while now (like two years). Its source code is avalible for those who can program, but the render times are harsh and the code complex, anyone up for the challenge is welcomed to try and port it.
though Im sure he could help with Blender’s rendering engine, Blender isnt a raytracer like Pane, Yafray, Povray etc - and its designed to be fast.
As an example, it may not be workable to include features from pane, into blenders internal rendering engine even if one wanted to. - pane features would better be ported to yafray or another raytracer.
Im not sure how intergrated blenders built in raytracer can be, f00f was working on GI for blenders rendering engine a while ago and had some nice renders so maybe Im wrong.
Check the fluids simulation: http://www.csit.fsu.edu/~beason/fluid/
Werry impressive. If this is opensource, will can be added into Blender? Will be great! The 3D fluids for smoke and fire and the 2D part for Compositor.
