hi all!
it was ‘sinterklaas’-evening last friday. that’s the dutch equivalent of santa claus. most people draw tickets with their family, friends, sportsclub or class at school (or all;)) and create something nice and buy a present for the person they picked. so did i with my family.
i remembered this tutorial, because it has been on blendernation news some time ago. i had created a low poly garden gnome, which i had already uv-textured, so the tutorial appeared to be not quite right for me (it can’t handle uv-textured models), but i found out too late. eventually i managed it with a tool called “Pepakura Designer 3”. it also automatically added edges to put the glue on.
i spent about a week of too little free time on him in total (moddeling, texturing, unfolding, cutting and glueing). Yes, it is a he, in case you were wondering. you could be, because female dwarfs have beards too and that “has been rise to the belief that there are no dwarf women, and that dwarves just spring out of holes in the ground. which is of course ridiculous.” (watch LotR). =>but this is a gnome, not a dwarf:p:o.
this is the result of my hopeless efforts.
the .blend file is in the attachments, but i had to divide the model in pieces to be able to make it out of paper. if you want the .blend of the divided gnome or precise instructions just send me a PM.
btw, i didn’t finish my model on time so i told my little brother it was an “IKEA construction set”. i spent the weekend after to glue it together anyway:o.
also it ended up to be not really a garden gnome, but just a normal gnome, since i lost the pedestal, because something (me?:o) went wrong undoing and redoing some things in blender.
