Paperworld

A Journey through PAPERWORLD

A project to emulate paper craft virtually in 3D.
I wanted the train to run naturally. In spite of animating the whole train, I went through some physics simulation test on train to run on tracks. It worked well.
Rendered through Cycles Engine.

For paper texture I followed a tutorial called ‘How to Make a Procedural Paper Texture in Blender’ from @BlendMaster on Youtube.

So beautiful, It reminds me of when I was a child, drawing and building models and paper worlds. I think that’s one of the reasons I later got into 3D.

This is so incredibly well done. I loved it.

Wow.

Superb! An intensely detailed and imaginative world – and that “paper texture” is truly amazing. Based on the highly-industrial setting, I sort of expected the skylift cars to be instead some kind of arial tramway. Your cinematography and good use of “focus pulls” worked out great. Really well done.

Thank you very much for observing the details and appreciating my work. I tried many methods and techniques for paper texture and did a lot of searching on youtube as well. Finally I found a tutorial for paper texture on a channel called @BlendMaster.

I still want to reconsider making paper stuff in real and recall my childhood. Thanks for appreciating my work.

This is really beautiful work, smooth and well lit to show off that paper texture. It really does look like paper models that came to life in some alternate universe.

Inspiring stuff!

Nice work! Great Dof control, I like the fact that you animated only the essential elements.

This is great. Easily one of the best pieces I’ve seen here in awhile. Awesome job, man.

Amazing!!!

I am speechless…

It’s like a model railroad done in paper…

Thank You very much. I appreciate. I was keeping in mind how the real paper models move.

Thanks a lot. Key factors are Depth of Field and focal length.

In 3D, it’s the little details that separate the men from the boys… And your piece has little details in the right places my friend! Like trains canting, correct scaling for every last item, proper rail heights, things like that. You clearly did your homework, used reference images, and everything was very well thought out. Bravo Viral! Excellent work!

Thanks a lot. Very well observed. I fixed a standard for scale of every geometry in the scene so that they would look so natural and acceptable.

So why didn’t you take the time to render text ‘Paper Town’ in the same wonderful thematic context as with all the other elements ???

The environment is dreary, I get that. But having such a stark irrelevant contrast seems … lazy.
