Parent Animation Inquiry

Hello everyone. I am trying to parent a cube to a rigged cylinder, and I want them to remain separate objects for other reasons, as this is just a test rig. First, I tried parenting to the object, but then the cube won’t move when the cylinder rotates in one place. Here is the file:

Then I tried parenting to the vertex, and this did make the cube move, but did not make the cube rotate along with it as if it were stuck to the top face of the cylinder. Here is my second attempt:

Parent the bone to one of the bones.

  • select the cube object
  • shift select the armature object
  • go to pose mode
  • select a bone
  • ctrl + p -> bone
