I have a unicycle, when it moves forward, the wheel turns, the pedals are parented to the wheel.
I have a mixamo mesh, its rigged very nicely.
How do I parent the controllers for the feet to the pedals. If I can do that, when the wheel turns, the pedals go around, the the feet follow the pedals and I’m happy.
thanks for any help.
just found this, lets see if I can get this to work. Select the mesh, go to the Modifiers tab in the Properties Editor and add an Armature modifier. Then, in the Armature field, input the name of the armature you want to deform the model.
One way is to use a child of constraint on the main foot bone.
Add another bone and make it the child of a pedal, and in the same location as the pedal.
Add the child of constraint to the main foot bone, with the pedal bone as the target.
You probably need to click the set inverse button to stop the foot turning 90 degrees after adding the target.
The constraint has an influence slider. Lower that to take the foot away from the pedal.
The foot cannot be constrained directly to the pedal, because the pedals origin is (I assume) in the center, not out where the foot gets placed.
Watch ‘how to pick up objects’ rigging tutorials for more info. It is the same concept.
