is there a way to parent the box to the bezier vertex that:
- if i rotate the beziercurve itself , the box inherits the rotation from the beziercurve, for now it does rotate with the curve but keeps its initial direction.
- that if i change the handles at the connected vertex the box also reacts to that. for now it only moves in x/y/z
Not directly (that I know of) — a point does not have a rotation.
The way to do it is to have another point following the curve some little distance ahead, then set a track-to constraint on the box that targets it.
EDIT: I’m pretty sure the Rigacar add-on / extension can do it for you with just a click or two. (I haven’t gotten to messing around with it myself yet.)
hi oki, ok i have to make depth to 0. thanks ! i did not see that at first. i only screwed resolution to 0. so finally that means that i can get no thickness with bevel…? “curve to tube” modifier also does not work…any idea how?
…so i made a second cylinder object and made a " curve modifier" to alignit to the bezier…another idea?
Maybe i’m a bit slow today.. or didn’t get the context. You wanted to align a cube according to curve.. now you want different thicknes for soem bevel of the curve ?
You may copy your curve to use it as a “control curve” and as a “formed object”.. or maybe couple this via geometry nodes or use it to “extract” the control curve..
You may have to elaborate this to get a more suited answer.
everything good…, thing was…initially i showed up a curve with thickness like a cable…
so for me your solution works very good …as i said i aligned a cylinder with a curve modifier so i get what i need, if i modify the curve, the cylinder follows.
i will dive deeper with your further ideas you mentioned.
