hi, im making a bicycle, and i want it, u kno, fairly detailed, i want the chain to follow the sprocked, which in turn spins the rear hub, which then spins the whole wheel. i got the hub, so that it would turn the wheel, and the cranks to turn the sprocket, but how can i make a chain, that spins the hub in relation to the sprocket? is it possible?
make the links of the chain follow a path (and be dupliframes)

note that IK objects don’t exist in newer versions of blender, you may have to mess with a speed ipo or something.
This seems like a good time to use the ¨Action¨ constraint.
Make an action containing one full turn of the chain.
Then take the chain an apply a action contrain linked to the rotation of the sprocket (is that the name?), that should take care of your problem.
I don’t remember if action constraints need to have a bone involved… but that is easy to find by experimentation.
In addition to the tutorial, this could be usefull.
