My mesh is automatically weighted to a “generated rigify rig” when I select “Armature Deform-> With Empty Groups” with this particular model. I have tried importing the model to a fresh scene but it still has the same issue. Is there an option I can turn off? Do I need to remodel? Thanks in advance for any advice given.
You may have some weights left over from earlier parenting attempts.
In edit mode on the mesh, go to the Vertex Groups section, and delete all the existing groups:
Then try and parent it again. Empty Groups will create new groups without any weights being assigned. If a particular group already exists, it will be left alone, and any weights assigned to it will be unchanged.
Also, it looks like the arms of the rig don’t align with the arms on the mesh. You might want to adjust the metarig to fit the mesh before you generate the final rig.
Thanks I took your advice and resolved the main issue. As for the rig in teh example, that was one I added to illustrate my issue with “empty groups”. Now I will adjust the mesh a bit and re-align a fresh armature to see if I have the “Automatic Wieght” issue i was having where the jaw master influenced the chest and arm, and the left and right feet.leg influences were reversed.
