Particle material

I’d like to render a tornado.

What I’ve done is start with particles

I then attached an object to the particles.

im trying to build a texture for the object that has a transparent light and airy feel. I’d like it to start at like a white and fade to transparent. Any ideas how to build this texture.

If you’re using cycles you can use the new particle lifetime addition. Normally I’d offer to make a video, but Andrew Price of BlenderGuru has done a perfectly good job showing it here:
Just use that same method, and then colour it as you wish, or lower the alpha value of the colour to make it transparent.
