particle system reflection

First post.

I’ve been using Blender for about a week now and I think it is great and you vets put out some really nice stuff.

I have a question though. I’ve created a grassy plane using the particle system, and I have a sphere with raymir set to max to reflect other objects. I can get the sphere to reflect the sky and other objects in the scene, but I can’t seem to get to reflect the grass particles. Any idea what could be going on?

Particles and halos don’t render in reflections. You need to use an Environment Map texture (EnvMap).

Much appreciated!

Will try that out.

so fligh%

you’ve managed to create the reflection
of say a fireball over a pond

using enviroment mapping?..

and if so is it possible to animate it?

Yes, in the EnvMap texture tab just click “Anim” (and make sure before hitting the Anim button in F10 (render) that you have free’d data on previous envmap experiments).

i dont know about the fire, but if youre using static particles for the grass, you may consider using the new test build. the new ones ae faces, so raytracing will pick them up.

im gonna do one in the future then
thanks thanks fli

so where are these test builds that maybe cool to
