Particle 'tail' question

Is there anyway that anyone knows of to have blender render the path a particle has already taken? Like to give the particles a ‘tail’ effect?

In Blender 2.41, that is…

Would this happen to be something you’re looking for?

Or more something like this?

Neither is quite right… What I’m basicly trying to do is create a sphere in which particles will bounce around, but I want to end by rendering a still frame and I want like a tail from the partcles showing where they were in the last few frames, Kinda like what one would get on a time laps photo… Maybe a streak of where the particle was…

Would vector motion blur do what you want? This new feature can be found in recent development builds.

Hmm… Thanks! ^^ Well thanks to your suggestion, I think I got the tails I wanted, too bad I don’t know how to make them longer yet… and for some reason, I can’t get the deflection to make them bouce off the insides of the sphere anymore, now they’re passing right through… any suggestions?

What method did you use exactly to make the light trails? How is your scene set up?
Have you used dupliverted objects as the particles? Then the bouncing should happen.

There is a button at the particles panel that shows the trail of the particles It’s called “Static”. If you want the particles trails to be calculated for every frame the “Animate” also.

I used the vect button under the particle pannel, and eventually I settled for slowing instead of bouncing…
