Particles go through collision floor

File attached.

I have setup a little particle simulation of a geyser that spits out shapes. However, when they hit the floor they bounce then dissolve partially through the collision object (plane floor).

What setting am I missing or is there a ‘more correct’ way of setting this up?

Thanks

Looks like you need the Copy Particles to Rigid Bodies Addon. Without it particle object don’t react to rigid body physics. You should be able to right click this link I included and Save Link As to disk, then install the addon.

  1. Select the meshes you’re using for the particle group objects, then turn on and tweak Active Rigid Body Physics
  2. Select your particle emitter mesh and in the toolbox look for Particles to Simulation, click the Copy Particles button and wait. Depending on the scene and the computer it can take a while so be patient, may seem like it’s crashing but it’s probably not.

Assuming that all works, start playing with the settings. I think i read checking Split Impulse gets better results, but is slower. Could be wrong though.

Thanks Kalab!

In all the particle simulation tutorials I have seen and read I don’t think I have ever come across the add-on.

Me neither?

Just putting this link to the addon’s BA thread here. Copy Particles to Rigid Bodies
