Particles inside transparent objects

I am quite new to Blender and are working with it for about 3 month in my spare time.
I want to use particles inside a partly transparent object, for example to simulate “falling snow” within a glass ball.
This works quite well using ZTransp, but as soon als I switch to RayTransp the particles are no longer visible. But without RayTransp no IOR is calculated.

Is this simply a limitation in Blender or am I missing something?

Thanks,
Zoaron

Halos (used by particles) do not show in raytracing (raymir, raytransp). You’d have to use dupliverts particles if you want them to show, but then you loose the halo look. Unless you tweak the material quite a bit, of course.

That works pretty good…
Thank you very much
