particles paths

Hi all,

Just been watching a video tutorial (incidentally completely unrelated to Blender, but bear with me…) from video copilot where particles are emitted from a source, and a reactor particle system creates particles that trail from the original system.

What I’d like to know is: does Blender offer this functionality? I’ve experimented briefly with a lot of different options (such as Exploded faces emitting particles) but that doesn’t seem to do it.

I was even considering using motion blur on a single system, but again this didn’t happen.


I didn’t quite get what you meant, so my question is: do you want an emitter that is shooting particles that leave a trace of particles behind? If so, then yes, it is possible.

  • Create the system.
  • Reduce the amount of shooting particles a bit and give them velocity.
  • Add a new system for the same emitter from the “1 Part 1” arrow.
  • Change type to “reactor”.
  • Change “Emit From:” to “Particle”.
  • Enable “Sta/End”.
  • Bake.
