Particles stuck in middle of plane

Hello! I’m having some trouble aligning these reeds to the bottom of the plane. The plane is stuck halfway trough them. How do I lower the plane?

You have to place origins of the straws at their respective bottoms.

You could manually lower the plane, or raise the reeds, but maybe that’s too obvious to be the answer you want.

To be more precise, you could go into a reed, select just the vertices on the bottom, and use Cursor to Selected, and then in Object mode select the plane and use Selected to Cursor. That would position it to the bottom of that reed.

If you want to deal with what eppo mentioned, you can use Set Origin to 3D Cursor to set it, but if those reeds are all separate meshes, that would take a long time to do it for each one.

Thank you! That worked

Glad it helped!

@rrh “You could manually lower the plane, or raise the reeds” only if you had converted particle system, not when it’s still ‘alive’. You could use Global option for particle objects though which would allow to move them. This would prevent Random scale used since scaling happens from the Origin.

“that would take a long time to do it for each one” - join objects, in Edit mode move objects up, separate by loose parts.
