Pattern Engraving

Hey! How would you go about creating this pattern in the elephant ears?

tracing as mesh and using a Wireframe modifier or a Skin modifer with additonal Subdivision modifier or even something like this one: Joined Metal Pipe from Curve - #4 by Format64 .

No worries, I appreciate the input! I was thinking of creating a multilayered pattern (like https://philip-roberts.com/), then placing it over a normal elephant’s ear on an elephant model and getting the boolean intersection, but it’s proving more difficult than I thought haha

Or you could just find a nice Doily pattern …convert to a B/W image in Gimp…and use it as an alpha Mask on the ears…

An SVG image could also be used and use the curve functions to extrude the curves …

Using a black and white image sounds interesting! How would I set up the alpha mask though? Do you know of any videos that explain this? Thanks.

The setup for the alpha mask is the node setup screenshot included in the post
