PC specs recommendedations for tour visuals

Hey!

I’m writing this question because after countless hours of research and numerous calls, I’m still not sure what my best options are, so let’s see if any of you can help me out!

I’m a producer and DJ, I study music as a bachelor’s degree, and as a part time study (840 hours) I will be studying motion design in Blender (& Adobe AE), in order to make my own tour visuals for shows. I’ve already gathered a decent amount of experience in Blender, but with my current laptop I simply won’t get anywhere due to unreasonable amount of lag and insane render times.

I’ve decided to invest into a PC as this is something I will likely do very intensively for the coming years, my budget is (EUR)1500-3000.
What Graphics card, motherboard & CPU would you recommend for optimal performance yet reasonable price? These are some things I’ve learned so far:

GPU: Nvidia RTX is best
CPU: AMD Ryzen

This is a build I recently discovered (let me know your opinion on this one!):

GPU: 12gb Nvidia geforce RTX 3060
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700G
Motherboard: Asus PRIME b450 plus
RAM: 32GB (2x16gb) CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR4 Pro 3600MHz

Let me know your suggestions!

First off, you don’t need a -G model, i.e. a model with integrated graphics, since you’ll have a discrete GPU

The budget you raised is enough to get you a high end desktop for the job. And since AE is a factor, don’t go cheap on the RAM.

Here’s a part list from one of the most well-known hardware sites in EU (I noticed you calculate your budget in Euros).

  1. CPU: https://geizhals.de/amd-ryzen-9-5950x-100-100000059wof-a2392527.html?hloc=at&hloc=de
The best CPU in the market for the job right now. Top single-threaded and multi-threaded performance.

  2. Motherboard: https://geizhals.de/asus-rog-strix-x570-e-gaming-90mb1150-m0eay0-a2079032.html?hloc=at&hloc=de
A beefy motherboard for a beefy CPU

  3. https://geizhals.de/g-skill-ripjaws-v-schwarz-dimm-kit-64gb-f4-3600c16d-64gvk-a2409666.html?hloc=at&hloc=de
As for the RAM, the more the merrier. A 3600MHz/Cl16 combination is tight enough for you.

  4. PSU: https://geizhals.de/corsair-hx-series-hx750-80-plus-platinum-750w-atx-2-4-cp-9020137-a1558738.html?hloc=at&hloc=de
Platinum and 10 years warranty. Enough said.

  5. CPU Cooler: https://geizhals.de/nzxt-kraken-x73-rl-krx73-01-a2216218.html?hloc=at&hloc=de
One of the best. The 5950X needs a good cooling solution.

  6. Main OS drive: https://geizhals.de/samsung-ssd-980-pro-1tb-mz-v8p1t0bw-a2361123.html?hloc=at&hloc=de

  7. Secondary drive (fast storage, scratch disk): https://geizhals.de/samsung-ssd-970-evo-plus-2tb-mz-v7s2t0bw-a1972736.html?hloc=at&hloc=de

  8. Chassis: https://geizhals.de/phanteks-eclipse-p500a-non-rgb-schwarz-ph-ec500atg-bk01-a2326815.html?hloc=at&hloc=de
    Best air-flow case.

  9. GPU: https://geizhals.de/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-3060-eagle-oc-12g-rev-2-0-gv-n3060eagle-oc-12gd-a2528461.html?hloc=at&hloc=de

Grand Total: ~2780€

We could definitely shave off some euros if you want, but this is an indication of what you can do with the budget.

And don’t forget. You’ll need at least two 27" monitors for the job, or an Ultra-Wide if you spend more time in AE’s timeline.
