PC upgrade for as the main focus

Hi, everyone!

Last months I’ve been exploring blender and holy is there alot to learn! But it’s already alot of fun!

So recently I’ve bought a MSI RTX 2070 super to boost my render times by a ton. (used a 1060 3gb before)

My current setup:
RTX 2070 Super GPU
8gb of ddr4 2100 mhz RAM
i5 6500k CPU
msi b150 m3 motherboard
550W PSU
1x 1TB SSD & 1x 250gb SSD

So as you can probaply tell my current setup probaply bottlenecks my gpu quite a bit. Now I am looking to upgrade my whole system and switch to ryzen. Either a Ryzen 5 3600 or 7 3700X. I use optix rendering but my viewport is pretty slow on fps. will a better cpu improve this? and is the difference between a 3600 or a 7 3700x worth it? or is the 3600 already a big improvement?

I’d like to hear your suggestions and why!

Both 3600 and 3700x would be an improvement and the viewport/editing would definitely be affected by it but in single core operations you would see at most maybe ~50% improvement with the r7 3700x over the i5 6500. Multi core would see a more significant uplift to be sure though.
