I’m in the market for a few upgrades on my pc and I was wondering what would be the best upgrade to improve render times. Should I get a faster Video card or would that even help in that area? I just want to know if spending the extra cash on a faster card with more pipelines and such would be an improvment in the only area I feel a need for some speed increase in blender. I’m thinking that raw proccessing power is the only way to really improve this and I don’t plan on replacing my MB and buying a newer faster CPU.
wrong forum, dude. the short answer tho is CPU and memory, in that order.
The video card has nothing to do with render times – a faster cpu will definately help and more memory may help (if your box goes into swapping).

that was my assumption : ( … I was just hoping that the cheaper alternative might be viable.
