WIP using High poly, PBR materials. Good opportunity to work on my materials and modeling. Comments welcome.
Failed. It could as well be an end of a walking cane.
Have you studied any photos, done any analysis on the real stuff… what is your base intent?
I wasn’t aware we were a trolling community.
Hi. It looks good to me.
It’s a bit strange that part of corrugated metal in the middle is penetrating the wood:

Anyway I do not know on which model you have based.
I agree that’s a bad area right now. It’s going to be a dixon Ticonderoga after I learn how to stamp the logo on the side without messing up my current UV. Thanks
Trolling?
Honestly, it doesn’t look like you succeeded in your attempt. Either accept my comment as a humble opinion or as you feel, stay butt hurt and judgmental, never reaching goals. May apologies.
Now if you would kindly answer and make trolling a constructive critique. I might reconsider and write further. Hopefully help you achieve photo-realistic results. Otherwise i see no point in communicating, sharing knowledge & experiences with you.
A hint.
Illustration starts with the motive. Every product/object has a function. If the function isn’t clearly expressed, then the objects visualization cannot represent it’s motive, it’s essence. Thus no matter how technically perfected work is, results will fail in achieving the final goal, delivering the message. So what really differentiates the cane from the pencil? Or eraser from a cylinder?
Hm… after a second thought.
Just enjoy your path.
Edit:
Also note. Those who were using such pencils & are familiar with the form, colors, functions… see it differently then everyone else. To others is just a yellow cylinder with gray rings and a pink cap on.
Consider that someone who starts off a post about a work in progress with “failed it could as well be the end of a walking cane” isan ass. You could be as technically correct as you want but if you’re an ass no one cares what you say. Consider it?
