Hello I struggle with light settings on my car, but I can not figure out whats wrong and which is best. To dark or to shiny.
I run on a brand new iMac Intel 10.6.8 64 bits 12GB and Blender Cycle 2.61 64 bits
I use 2 emitted planes as lamps Top 2000, front 1500
Render with Sample 2600/40
Rendertime 90 minutes.
Is this the best. tell me
Here is 2 images as will show you where the ploblem is.
Sorry I try to add a blendfile but PasteAll still dont let me download any.
Your real problem here is DEFINITELY your materials, not you lighting.
The materials used are just not “real” and with this it lets down your modelling. The material for the main car body, what is that? Paint? Can’t be because it is too diffuse. Is it metal? If it was then that diffusion would be smoother and should have more variation. (Metal doesn’t come out of the factory scratched, does it?)
Also, this is not necessarily lighting but that setup you have there is just not professional at all! That car would be in a VERY large room (so big you wouldn’t see the walls) with the light being directed onto the car and nothing else. Also, use invisible light sources (Search the forum for tutorials on that, if you don’t already know) so that you can have light reflecting from wherever you want it, regardless of where the camera is.
Having everything in that tiny room just doesn’t look right!
