Permanently collapsing "Volumes" and "System" in the File Manager?

Hi!

The “Volumes” and “System” thingies are useless to me. Is there a way to permanently collapse them? Everything I try opening something I have to either collapse them or scroll down to my favorites, it’s pretty annoying.
