Perplexed with toon edges

I’m experimenting with toon shading and I’m a little confused on an effect during the rendering. It seems in the pictures I’ve seen that the edges outline the object around the edges. But when I try it it outlines the whole mesh! :-? Is there something I’m doing wrong or have I misconceived something?


Try lowering your Edge Intensity (Eint) in Edge Settings.

exactly. values from 5 to maybe 20 seem to work fine. if you use higher values, also push up the AntiShift value (may only work with the Unified renderer).

i wish someone rewrote the whole thingy, blender’s cartoon edges are far from perfect. even tuhopuus openGL-toonedges look better. …maybe a combination of hardware-accelerated toonedges??
