I started messing with blender around 1 year ago and now finally deciding that my skill level has increased enough to start to put my work up here on these forums, awesome forums by the way.
The idea behind this project was that it was inspired by a fantasy like persian look.
I would like any amount of criticism, and try my best to understand it, my background is not very artistic however, I’ll try my best to understand and apply the criticism to make my renders look better.
Things I had in mind
-Applying normal map to the sand as it places a huge load on the render time
-Adding more details to the swords, don’t know where
-Working on my lighting
-Suggestions would be nice
Note: The sand and mat are both formed using displacement modifiers and subsurfs
ok, the modeling on the swords is great, u may want to use some AO and u might want to make the plane a cloth simulation with the two swords colliding with it. my last suggestion is that u could increase the radius of your spot lamp or go with a sun lamp. otherwise, your scene is great:yes:
Well, The swords look very good  .
The sand looks quite realistic , but the carpet, Hmmm, well, it looks like a simple floating plane. Maybe you could use softbodies or cloth simulation to make it fall on the ground , make it follow the shape of the sand.
& I think you should use a Sun lamp or a Hemi lamp instead of a Spotlight  (or you can use the three at the same time) to make the shading softer.
& That’s it . Good work.
why is there a giant spot light on the beach?. i’d add a cloth sim to the cloth or use the sculpt tool(shrink wrap it to the sand?) , the hilts are completely pitch black and have lost all their detail and i dunno if you have a picture load for the world, but if you don’t i’d add one to make the reflections better, maybe you could add a ruby or somthin to the pommel? soft shadows might look nice don’t if it’s worth the render time though. other than that good work i’m very picky so don’t let me put you down
Believe me, this community is great if you don’t start off posting total crap like I did. Great modeling! Could use some better lighting though, instead of just one spot. Try the inverse square setting on your spotlight, I heard it produces the physically correct results.
