Photo Realistic Cucumber

Photorealistic Cucumber - my 1st Attempt to try rendering setting:)

-Ubuntu 10.10
-Blender 2.56a (Modelling/Composite/Rendering)
-Gimp 2.6 (Color Correction)

Laptop Spec:
-Intel Pentium T4200 @ 2.00GHz
-3 GB ram

HD Render time: 9 Minutes

How you guys thinks? Thanks for watching

it looks good, but not photorealisticā€¦
this is why i think:

  1. you have chosen a cucumberā€¦ organic models are quite hard to do, but maybe you enjoy the challenge.
  2. the texture on the cucumber is a bit low - res, and should look different near the ends.
  3. have you used a bump map on this? a cucumber wouldnt be that smooth (i dont think).
    good luck

casio: Yup, never model organic model before (& its really hard :frowning: ). Oh i see thatā€¦i just realise a bit low res there. texture like this cannot repeat right?(tileable), because texture itself is organic.

How to make bump map? & some my friend (3D max user) saidā€¦ā€œuse displacement mapā€. bump=displacement?

Thanks for your kind word casio  (btw i love your key 3D, its really realistic!)

You can make a quick and dirty bump map by turning your diffuse texture to black and white and then adjusting the brightness/contrast. General rule of thumb, if you increase the contrast by a number X, decrease the brightness by the same.

ā€¦ and BTW, this is very generic, you can definitely do something much, much more sophisticated.

Pretty good render for BI. Although you chose an odd object to try to render photo-realistically.
